Using Navatec Bar-mouse in document flow management: see explanation below

As a document moves through an administrative process its status can be recorded at each key location by simply scanning a bar code label on the document with a bar-mouse. A time-stamped confirmation is sent to a remote server and a status report on the progress of any specific document can be viewed at any time online by scanning in the bar code ID from a document list or clicking on a dialogue drop down list.

All label printing drivers can be provided online and use can be made of standard printers.

Barcode technology

Online services supported by Navatec Voyager have embedded barcode technology as standard, activated at the click of a button. We apply best practice technology for office barcoding through the use of the revolutionary Navatec bar-mouse a barcode reading mouse. This is the world's lowest-cost means of changing a PC or whole network or online applications to bar code technology....just substitute each PC mouse for a Navatec bar-mouse.

Online operations

Bar-mouse works "as is" with all Navatec online barcode services (both branded and unbranded) which are accessible from any location via the Internet.

Navatec online services provide printer drivers which create bar codes online and these can be printed using standard printers onto adhesive label paper stock or standard sized paper. Folded labels are made from standard sized paper and can be placed into adhesive polythene pouches. The system will also locate bar codes as required on correspondence and other documents where it is necessary to track the document's progress; alternatively adhesive labels can be used to stick barcodes onto a document.

Offline operations

Bar-mouse works "as is" with the leading Windows database, spreadsheet, word processors and text editing programs.

Navatec bar-mouse is a useful peripheral for Microsoft® Access data bases to improve the accuracy of data input as well as speed up this process.

Microsoft® Excel is another program which can accept data input from Navatec bar-mouse directly. For example just reading a sequence of barcodes will place then directly into Excel in single column mode without touching the program controls.

Navatec bar-mouse works fine with Microsoft® Word and text editors such as NotePad and WordPad.

Navatec bar-mouse data input format

Navatec bar-mouse inputs any scanned bar code to a computer by decoding the bar code and then feeding the resulting characters into the computer as if they has been typed in using a keyboard. As a result bar-mouse can work with most dialogues.

The so-called post-amble signal, that is the signal given out by bar-mouse, when it completes a read, is line feed and carriage return.

Navatec bar-mouse is used by online applications services involving some 40 different languages (keyboard sets). Anyone requiring advice on the suitability of bar-mouse for a specific application can contact our technical support where we provide free advice.
