Virtual Client origins

The objectives and methods of developing Virtual Client technology were set out in a SEEL research paper in 19991. This paper called attention to the many shortcomings of conventional browsers in the face of advancing operating systems and the emergence of stable server side ECMAScripting2. Then current browsers were too slow and constrained the 100:1 processing velocity gains achieved by server side scripting over client side scripting. Browsers were blind to a range of useful communications capabilities that could support more efficient client operations and, in particular, more effective use of client side applications. This paper pointed out that operating systems "version" constraints on the capabilities of browsers to interpret advancing state of the art content can be compensated, or even substituted, by server side investment, client side interface scripts and a standardization of HTML syntax supporting server side scripting.

Navatec Voyager - World's First Virtual Client

The first Virtual Client, the Navatec Voyager, was built by Navatec.Com3 using SEEL components in 2000. In 2005, Navatec Voyager was organised as a separate unit to evaluate, test and further develop the product under an agreement licensing the use of SEEL components, future upgrades and innovations.

In the first Quarter 2011, Navatec.com gained the exclusive commercialization rights of all SEEL Plasma Data Base II developments, an advanced configuration for solid state memory devices (SSD).
